Polhawn Fort - Cornwall Wedding Photography - Mr and Mrs Archer
Polhawn Fort is an historic wedding venue that dominates the cliffs that it's built into; with such scenic views out to sea and across the bay it's no wonder that it's one of Cornwall's most sought after venues for weddings and functions.
We were delighted to offer not only wedding photography but also floral design, hair and make-up for this Cornwall Wedding.
David and Rebecca are both from England but currently live in Beijing. They came back to the UK for their stunning wedding at Polhawn Fort and had their wedding service at the Maker Church near Cawsand Bay.
We first met David and Rebecca after they attended a Devon wedding in 2012 (see Lucy and Andi's Wedding) that we also provided photography, floral design and hair and make-up for; so we were really pleased that they wanted to use all of these services again.
Getting ready with the was great fun in the morning as Cathering took a strole across the beach at Cawsands Bay while Dan stayed at Polhawn with the bridal party. It's always really rewarding being able to show the bride and groom what the opposite party got upto during the pre-wedding stages as this is often not recorded from both angles. This is were having two photographers at your wedding can really pay off.
This jumping photograph is becoming a modern wedding classic and we love the little boy doing his very best to compete. I'm not sure we've ever had such an agile bunch of fellas in this situation before!
Sometimes it's the little things that can mean the most and we make evey effort to take note of what's important, capturing the majority of your day with a documentary style that will tell the whole story no matter how big or small.
Jai and Gemma provided Hair and Make-up for Rebecca, 6 bridesmaids, mother of the bride, mother of the groom and some hair styling for the two gorgeous little flower girls. They had a mixture of styles including hair ups, plaits, curls and many more. Jai will be posting a seperate post to cover this in more detail soon.
This is one of our favourite captured moments of the day, you can't recreate moments like this too easily.
The Maker Church near Cawsand has plenty of space for photographers to move without feeling intrusive and you can get photographs during the wedding service from almost every angle. David and Rebecca's service was run by family members so it felt very intimate and quite charming.
The all important confetti photograph. We love how well they reacted to this.
Rebecca's wedding flowers where provided by Sarah and matched her purple colour scheme really well with a delicate balance of colour and shape. Infact David like them so much he wanted a slice of the action too...
Inside Polhawn Fort is truly timeless and you would think you had been time warped were it not for the electric lighting, but even that has been done very sympathetically and in-keeping with the buildings features.
Polhawn has a private beach area that you can easily walk down to and when the tide is out you can get onto the beach. In our case the tide had made it's way back in but the colourful sky provided an incredible setting for some post-sunset portraits by the sea.
Photographing the first dance at this Polhawn fort wedding was highly entertaining as David and Rebecca had pre-rehearsed an amazing medly full of romantic classics and up-beat party songs. We used off camera lighting here to give depth and add more atmosphere to the photographs.
David and Rebecca are the type of people that like to have fun and enjoy every moment. This shone through on the day and echoed to all of their wonderful guests. The whole day was calm and relaxed and the evening was full of energy!
It was an absolute pleasure to provide our services for this Cornwall Wedding and we are looking forward to our next wedding at Polhawn Fort next year!
