Wedding Hair and Make-Up at The Great Barn and Gypsy Hill, Devon.
The Great Barn in Higher Ashton, Devon was the setting for a wedding that fused the brides Indian and grooms Scottish traditions together with an added touch of vintage bridal style.
Mira-Sophie wore a beautiful vintage calf-length dress that created a stunning silhouette and sparked her inspiration for her wedding hair. Jai worked closely with Mira-Sophie to create the perfect hairstyle, beginning with Audrey Hepburn's iconic Breakfast at Tiffany's hairstyle as inspiration but adding a contemporary twist with volume around the sides and back that is typically found in traditional geisha hairstyles. The use of a fresh flower clip-in corsage and diamante hair pins helped to finish off the look and add dimension to the style.
Mira-Sophie's bridesmaid also wanted a contemporary wedding up-do that had texture and height as well as some interesting detail at the back. To link both the styles together, fresh flowers were also added to the bridesmaids' hairstyle but instead of diamante gems, pewter coloured sparkly pins were added completed the look.
The Gypsy Hill Hotel in Exeter was were Jai and her team headed on a slightly damp mid-June morning. The soggy weather could not however dampen the spirits of Jai's team, the bride Jane and her bridal party, which included Jane's young daughter Zoe as the bridesmaid. Zoe wanted to wear her hair in waves and so, in order to avoid using any heated styling tools on someone so young, Jai moistened her hair and then did a series of french braids which were then left to dry naturally throughout the morning preparations. The braids were then removed shortly before the ceremony, once dried, to give the desired wavy effect.
Jane wanted to have a half-up half-down wedding hair style that showed-off her tiara headband which also had some details from the back. Jai created soft bouncy curls on Jane's mid-length hair and then, after adding height at the roots, created a small circular twist at the back of the head which was then accentuated with the use of 3 hair screws. Using a small amount of hair from the front side panels for the back details meant that there was still enough hair available to been seen around the face.
Jane's bridal party also included the Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom, both of whom had their make-up done and their hair blow-dried. Jane's mother wore a stunning hat that sat at an asymmetrical angle on the head, whilst Jane's soon-to-be Mother in Law wore a hatinator which was attached to a headband that Jai's team disguised by creating a cross-over details at the side of her head.
